East Texas is big; there is more space between towns than the size of the towns themselves.
Where does a film lover find interesting film events in the area to attend?
Where does a film maker find local talent in the area to hire?
They find it here, through the East Texas Film Society.
Our mission is to join the film community scattered across the region by showcasing screenings and events already happening around us, keeping talent informed of casting and production calls, hosting our own unique film screenings, and providing an avenue for casual or intellectual discussion over cinema and related topics.

Our aim to connect the filmmakers and film lovers of East Texas is achieved by showcasing the local filmmaking talent to the masses. Local Showcase screenings are either blocks of short films, or feature length presentations.

Film society members have the perk of voting on special screenings. Periodic lists of films are sent to all members and the film with the most votes is screened!

At all our events we will be bringing some VHS, DVDs, and Blu-rays for your to peruse!
If you find something you want to watch, take it, watch it, and bring it back to our next event. Then do it all over again!
We'll try to rotate titles in and out, and we would certainly love donations from your collection to put in the rotation!

ZAKHEIM | A local feature documentary
October 20, 2026 · 6-9 PM · Liberty Hall, Tyler
Our first Local Showcase event, presented by Liberty Hall and sponsored by Art Connection of East Texas, Callynth Photography, and Unordinary People, will be featuring a feature length documentary by Isaac Belota.
Zakheim tells the story of a little-known Polish artist, whose talents are featured in murals at the Rusk Post Office and Mineola Post Office.
Belota investigates the life of Zakheim throughout his time in Poland, his emigration to the U.S. and his interaction with the world of the WPA and New Deal art programs, and how these murals in East Texas by a Polish immigrant tell the story of the West and the United States.
